The EUSEM Workshop on Fractures and Injuries in Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine will be organised in Antwerp, Belgium from 26 to 28 February 2025. This workshop will be held in conjuction with the 35th Annual Congress of the Belgian Society of Emergency and Disater Medicine which will be hosted on 28 February.
EUSEM Workshop 2025
The workshop aims to summarise the evidence for the care of non-major trauma in adults and paediatric Emergency Medicine. The format for the workshop is as follows:
- two plenaries each day attended by all attendees
- followed by case-based interactive lectures run as informal tutorial style lecture groups to encourage audience participation/led (2 groups each day)
- followed by master classes consisting smaller group practical teaching (4 groups).
The plenaries serve as a combination of opinion and an evidence summary around core topics. The emphasis on what we know and best evidence.
The interactive lectures are designed to explore the management of key topics with diverse care options. Each session begins with a brief presentation of a case (2-5 minutes), followed by audience participation where members discuss their management strategies (5-10 minutes). The session concludes with a core summary of best practices presented by the speaker (5-10 minutes). The focus is on shared learning through audience involvement and discussion of the topic. The workshop will address three themes, each lasting 25 minutes, with 2-3 speakers from different countries ideally participating.
The breakout sessions pick up on points from plenary and case based discussions with focus on ‘how to deliver’. The emphasis is on ‘how to do’ and each session has 2-3 leads and may be run as one session of separate stations.
