What to Expect:
We are delighted to share some fantastic news from the European Journal of Emergency Medicine (EJEM) – the official journal of EUSEM.
The 2024 Journal Impact Factor has just been released, and EJEM has reached an all-time high of 4.2, placing the journal in the top decile (top 10%) of all Emergency Medicine journals. This is a major achievement for our community and a testament to the quality and consistency of work published over the years.
Congratulations to the editorial team, the associate editors, and the many reviewers and authors who have contributed to this success!
EJEM continues to welcome high-quality submissions, including original research, reviews, and randomized controlled trials. If you’d like feedback before submitting, the Editor-in-Chief (Prof. Yonathan Freund) is happy to provide a rapid response to pre-submission inquiries at: This email address is being protected from spambots. We are also actively looking for new reviewers and potential future Editorial Board members. If you’re interested, or if you know colleagues who may wish to get involved, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support of EJEM and of EUSEM — and here’s to even greater milestones ahead!
Warm regards,
Yonathan

Vienna, June 1, 2025 —Last December 2024, at the General Assembly of the Austrian Medical Association, an amendment to the Specialisation Ordinance was approved, thus creating a supraspecialisation in clinical Acute & Emergency Medicine. This text goes into effect today 1 June 2025. This long-anticipated move marks a significant milestone aligning Austria’s medical training standards in emergency medicine with those of many other European nations.
This supra-specialty inaugurates a structured 24-month additional training in emergency medicine.
The Austrian Association for Emergency Medicine (AAEM) has actively contributed to the elaboration of the curriculum for this new specialized training program.
We congratulate the AAEM for their hard work and perservance.
