EM Monthly: From Sim to Save: The Journey to Clinical Confidence
This EM Monthly webinar is organised by EUSEM Young Emergency Medicine Section and it aims to cover the following learning objectives:
• Describe how simulation-based training helps develop both technical and non-technical skills (teamwork, communication, leadership) in emergency medicine.
• Identify key elements that contribute to clinical confidence in acute/emergency settings and explain how simulation can bridge the gap from theory to practice. • Select appropriate simulation modalities (in-situ vs centre-based; high-fidelity vs low-fidelity) for specific emergency scenarios relevant to their role.
• Apply at least one practical simulation strategy (e.g., structured debriefing, role-rotation, scenario switching) into their own department or training practice.
• Formulate a SMART goal (Specific-Measurable-Achievable-Relevant-Time-bound) to implement or enhance a simulation-based initiative in their own institution within the next 12 months.
The Webinar Programme will be as follows:
• Introduction - overview of the topic and key learning objectives - Dr Michela Cascio & George Voicescu (YEMD board)
• Simulation and Gamification: engaging the learner - Dr Mohammed Shaheen
• Simulation: a tool to learn or to retrain? Beyond the TS - Dr Valentina Angeli
• Current and future trends in medical simulation: implications for clinical confidence and patient safety - Professor Marc Lazarovic • Live Q & A
